Drobeta Turnu-Severin – Simian – Rogova – Vanju Mare – Bucura – Izimsa – Cetate – Vartop – Plopsor – Craiova

The route starts from Dragalev Park in Drobeta-Turnu Severin (60 m above sea level, -3.7% slope) and follows the Danube river with a slight slope and slight differences in height. At the exit from Hinova (km 17.2, 45 m above sea level, 0.1% slope) begins an intensive ascent to km 21 (203 m above sea level, 2.1% slope), marking the pass over the extension of the Bullock hill. From there on, the route descends to Rogova, then goes down to Bucura (km 34.7, 79 m above sea level, -1.5% slope). A new stretch of climbing commences at the exit of Bucura, (km 37.5, 150 m above sea level, -0.2% slope). From here on, the itinerary descends continuously, passing through Cujmir and reaching Cetate. From the entrance of Cetate (km 70.5, 48 meters above sea level, 1.9% slope) begins a slow ascent, which rises to Caraula. Here, at the entrance of the village (km 91.4, 108 meters above sea level, 1.3% slope), an intensive climbing part begins. After that climbing, the route begins to descend to Lake Cornu, and a new climbing stretch begins at the exit of Vartop (km 100.9, 142 meters above sea level, 1.3% slope). The route remains relatively flat until it reaches the exit of Plopsor (km 108.7, 176 m above sea level, 0.6% slope), where an intensive climbing and descent stretch begins as a result of crossing the valley of the Desnatui River (km 112 119 m above sea level, 1.9% slope). Then follow two descents and climbs as a result of crossing the settlements of Terpezita (km 118.4, 129 m above sea level, 1.9% slope) and Lazu (km 121.3, 146 m above sea level, 1.7% slope). Between km 124 (179 m altitude, slope 0.4%) and km 132.5 (173 m above sea level, 0.1% slope) the trace remains relatively flat to the beginning of the beech forest where intensive descent starts as a result of crossing of the Jiu river(km 139.7, 75 m above sea level, 0.9% slope). The end point of the route is in Tineretului Park in Craiova (141.8m, 79m above sea level), located on the left bank of Jiu. |
